Newmarket RecordCouncil promise meter

About

Independent. Source-linked. No tracking.

Newmarket Record keeps a public record of what Newmarket council promised and what the published numbers show, between elections and not only during them.

Independence

This is a resident-run site. It is not affiliated with the Town of Newmarket, with any candidate, campaign, or party, or with any news organization. No money has been spent promoting it, and it is not a registered third-party advertiser under the Municipal Elections Act. Nobody is paid to work on it, and it accepts no advertising or sponsorship.

How to read the grades

Statuses, verdicts, and letter grades are editorial judgments drawn from the public sources linked beside each item: council agendas and minutes, staff reports, Town budgets, provincial and regional datasets, and local reporting. The sources are the record. The letter is one reading of it. Where a councillor or the mayor has graded themselves, that grade is shown as they gave it. The method page sets out the rules, including what is not graded.

Corrections

If a fact, figure, date, or attribution is wrong, email hello@newmarketrecord.ca with the page link and the source that shows the correct version. Corrections are made on the page and noted in the changelog on the method page. Council members and their staff are welcome to use the same address. The site is reviewed each quarter; it was last reviewed October 18, 2026.

Photos

Portraits are the Town of Newmarket’s official photographs of sitting council members, used to identify them and credited on each profile. News photographs are not reused.

Privacy

Newmarket Record sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and stores nothing in your browser. Fonts are served from this site, not from Google. The pages are delivered by Cloudflare, which keeps ordinary server logs, including IP addresses, for a short period to run its network. Links that open your email program send mail directly from you to the councillor; nothing passes through this site. There are no accounts, no forms, and no newsletter.
