The low per-capita levy is confirmed. The Town’s own figure (10%) and the mayor’s (18%) differ, and the GTA-only average behind either claim has not been checked here.
Statement
- Taylor (2026): taxes per capita are “about 18 per cent below the GTA average.”
- Town 2026 budget page: a commitment to keep the levy “approximately 10 per cent below the GTA average.”
Record
- BMA 2025: net levy $1,605 per capita, rated “low” (fifth-lowest of 35 major Ontario municipalities, in a Fraser Institute commentary using BMA data).
- Total municipal burden, including water and stormwater: $7,090, rated “high” (4.7% of household income, rated “mid”).
- 2026 Town levy increase: 2.99%.
